Green Events: The Green Innaugural Ball

On Saturday January 17th, green luxury will get a bit of the limelight at the first ever green inaugural ball. This event, held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., will feature sustainable choices from start to finish. The hors d'oeuvres selection and the open bar will include organic, local, vegan and vegetarian options. Decor will be minimal and sustainable, and entertainment will include a performance by musician and activist Wyclef Jean and a fashion show featuring creatively recycled couture by designer Nancy Judd. While the event itself will be as green as possible, organizers also urge attendees to do their part by using public transportation, purchasing carbon offsets, and choosing sustainable or vintage fashions. They recommend TheFrock.com as a source of beautiful designer wear, including the Versace gown shown here. Tickets to the ball, at $500 each, are still available here.

Cmarchuska: Eco-Friendly Clothing + Charity = A Welcomed Change in Fashion

What do you get when you blend childhood dreams, business savvy, compassion, and zeal for environmentally conscious fashion? A winning combination taking the latest wave of eco-friendly clothing lines to the next level. There's nothing like the tightening grip of economic instability to push you towards your calling in life. Just ask Christine Marchuska – former financial wizard turned luxury 'green' clothing entrepreneur. She left behind a souring Wall Street to successfully mold her personal interests into an ever-evolving company – cmarchuska. With a fresh take on luxury eco-wear, Marchuska brings sustainable, high quality fabrics to life with a commitment to comfort and style. Pieces within the cmarchuska Signature Collection consist of fine organic and recycled materials with a color palette of pristine white, noir black and vert green.
